Typhoid Mary

Ugh. DD has pink eye.

Yesterday, after her nap at daycare, one of her eyes was really gooey. They cleaned it through the afternoon but it was still kind of gross when I picked her up. She was in a fine mood, took her bath and went to bed. She didn't sleep well but I chalked that up to the two teeth she's cutting. Her eye was clear when she got up this morning and until it was time to go to school.

We figured it if was pink eye, it would be still be a problem this morning and assumed something must have just irritated it yesterday.

I got a call about a half an hour ago saying that when she woke up from her nap today, it had happened to both eyes and she could barely open them.

DH is on his way to pick her up. Her doctor's office called in a prescription and said they didn't even need to see her. From the description, it is definitely pink eye.
Scenes from A Clockwork Orange flash before me as I try to figure out how we're going to get these eye drops in. I'm also feeling major guilt over exposing everyone else in the room by sending her back to daycare today. On top of it DH has a man cold and is being a total baby about potentially taking time off to care for her.

Sorry for the rambling vent. Thanks for reading.

  • Oh, poor girl. If her eyes are crusted shut maybe she won't see you coming with the drops...? Hopefully everything will clear up quickly and she will be back to normal soon. Don't feel too bad about bringing her to daycare, I am sure she will get somethin

  • Thanks, MamaZ.

Does anyone know what kind of cleaning I need to do around the house for this? Obviously, I'll wash her sheets and stuffed animals that she hugs and chews on.

What else? Lysol all surfaces? Suggestions?

  • Pink eye isn't the unstoppable plague that everyone seems to think it is. I'd rather my kid catch pink eye than some kind of respiratory infection.

  • It totally sucks! Abby had it about a month ago .... after DH and I both had it the week before. We put her eye drops in by laying her on the changing table or floor and one of us distracting her, while the other one trying to get the drops in. Hope it go

  • How crummy, I'm sorry.  I really hope that she was somewhat easy to put the drops in, and it clears up sooner than later.
