TTC after 35

First IUI

Background: I'm 40, unexplained IF - FSH 7.06, AFC 10, Estrogen 23.3 (CD3); DH is 34 and perfect.  Our first child was the product of 3 rounds of Clomid and we got lucky.  We are now trying for #2, started when DD turned 1 and revisited the RE after 4 months of trying.  Have completed 3 rounds of Clomid without success and took a month off to get things in order.

I am CD9 today and did my trigger shot last night.  On Monday (CD7), I had 1 follie at 17mm and my E2 was "good."  I got so caught up in the trigger and IUI details, I forgot to ask the actual number. :(

Can someone tell me what to expect at the IUI?  How about after?  Does anyone know 1st IUI success rates?  I tried google, but not much luck on my research.  Maybe I don't know how to phrase it.  SART was no help, I guess that's just for IVF.

Thanks for any advice.  Good luck to us all!

Re: First IUI

  • I have done six total IUIs. I had my dd via IUI. It is a very easy procedure and they have you lay down after with your bum raised up for twenty minutes. For us dd was IUI success without meds on the second try. I have done 4 medicated rounds on IUI an

  • I had my IUI #1 last Thursday and IUI #2 last Friday. It's a quick procedure but it's a little uncomfortable, a little pressure and some light cramping. It's not bad at all. They had me lay down for 10 minutes, I stayed for 15. Good luck!!

  • success rates depend on your diagnosis.... with unexplained infertility they are usually 15-20% without drugs or with Clomid... the success rate jumps to 25% with injectibles....

  • All depends on your age.  My levels are above average for a woman in her 40's and we were given a 3% chance, and I got pregnant on our very first IUI.  Sadly, I miscarried, but people get pregnant on their first IUI more often than you would thi
