Ok so my cousin, who just had a baby a couple of weeks ago, sent my mom an email (she said she didn't have my address and asked my mom to forward it to me)
The email talked about how, "she didn't want to tell another mom how to parent her child, but that she noticed I had a baby sling on my registry [fyi-the moby wrap] and she was just concerned for my little bundle of joy's safety" she then attached an article from consumer reports talking about recalls on different 'slings' and deaths associated with them. The Moby Wrap wasn't listed anywhere in the article as being recalled or having any deaths associated with it.
Side note- I also kind of wonder how she even came across the article unless she took items from my registry and looked them up...
Anyways, obviously I don't want to endanger my child, but I have personally only heard positive things about the proper use of baby wearing.
So I want your opinions, do any of you other moms discourage it or hear bad things about it??
I think with most things a little common sense goes a long way- obviously I wont be doing kart wheels while wearing my baby, or keeping her face smooshed up against me so she can't breath.. I guess I just felt she came off a little condescending, but I'd like to think it was coming from a good place..
Thoughts?
Re: Can I please have your opinion?
She is misinformed and making generalizations.
Two things:
1) I do speak up/inform others when I see/notice them doing something unsafe for their child. I try to do it in a kind manner and I usually preface it with "I just learned/read/heard, have you heard/seen this too"? type of way s
Aw well thanks everyone!
Your all right, I'm sure she was trying to come from a good place and there are definitely instances where speaking up..or calling child protective services <img src="https://community.thebump.com/cs/emoticons/emotio
