"Real Food"

Hi Ladies... I was just curious as to when you started giving your LO some real food and what exactly have you given? Are you changing any of their formula intake? How often to do you give it?

Our daughter only takes 4-4oz bottles a day but also gets yogurt and cereal for breakast, fruit and veggie for lunch and a fruit and veggie for dinner.

Since she is getting closer to 10 months I'm just curious when we should be doing this.

 TIA!

Re: "Real Food"

  • My DD is 9 months and 2 weeks and just started eating chicken.  Our pediatrician wanted us to wait until 6 months to give her ANYTHING other than bm or formula. We started with rice cereal but then quickly moved to oatmeal which she likes alot more.

  • DD eats a combination of purees and "real" food. She eats everything but dairy, so far.

I just make sure everything is cut small and it is soft enough.

  • We do BLW so DS has never had purees and we give him every we eat. We do 3 meals a day. Two weeks ago DS started cutting back on nursing to about 5 to 7 sessions in 24 hours, where we were at 8 to 12 in 24 hours. Including night feedings.

  • I didn't start solids until 6 months. I was pretty lazy with the pured foods. At about 7 and a half months, I pretty much started giving her whatever I was having. She gets three meals a day. She has roughly 36 oz of formula each day.

  • We do 2-3 meals a day of pureed or cut up food.  She likes more texture these days, so when we go out to a restaurant we usually get something she can have (mashed potatoes, carrots, etc).  She had her first taste of chicken pot pie yesterday an
