I thought of this the other day. So common yet people would be caught off guard because it's rarely used for a first name. Do you think it's cool or weird? I think I like it but my husband would never go for it. Also our last name is a first name. So that's kind of funny.

i think it's neat! i really like brooks, which is the same style. but with your LN being a common first name? that might actually be a deterrent. you might always have a son who's called Ryan Smith (as an example) rather than Sm
I have never heard of Smith as a fn.....I think it is fine if it is a family name or family last name. Kind of odd if it is not. I have seen the last name as a first , "Klein" on a boy ,"Stone" on a boy and "Olsen" nn Olie on a GIRL!
