apnea is a jerk

My big boy, weighing in at 2 pounds and 1.5 ounces, has decided that breathing is uncool. He brady'd twice on Sunday and needed a lot of help to get back. He was on a CPAP but then they put the regular vent back in because he needed so much help.

Tomorrow they want to try him on the CPAP again. I know it's a step forward but it terrifies me! This kid is not into breathing. Can't he just stay on the vent until he goes to college? Kidding. Kind of.

Anyway, there is really zero point to this except to work out some stress. If he bradys they can bring him back. He might be fine. I will be dead at 40 at the rate this is going.

Thanks for letting me vent :)

  • Vent away! The ventilator roller coaster is rough. Remember that 3 days is a lot to our LOs! Hopefully he's built up lots of stamina and will remember to keep on breathing!

  • Thanks for the encouragement! He was born at 26 weeks and just weighed 1.5 lbs so his lungs are just so immature, as many of you are unfortunately familiar with. We did the oscillating vent for a couple of weeks as well. Good times.
