My feelings about cloth diapers

So I saw this, while looking out of curiosity:

https://www.fuzzibunz.com/modern-cloth-101

Ugh. I am so not wanting to do cloth although I know it's been modernized and what not and there are the disposable inserts and everything. Just wondering what you other girls' thoughts are. Considering? Not? I showed that chart to DH and now he is wanting to do cloth bc it's so much cheaper : Monetarily, I know it's smart, but I'm not interested in extra "ick" since babies (and kids in general) come with so much anyway with spit up, poop, blow outs, etc.

    So don't do it then.

I've tried the cheap ones. They suck. Buying a good size stash of decent diapers was

  • You're going to have to deal with ick and poop no matter what.

IMO cloth diapers are better for the environment, better for baby's rear (no harsh chemicals from the absorbent stuff that's in disposables = less diaper rashes/blowouts, etc), and t

I tried them with my daughter but she screamed and cried every time we put them on, so we just went with disposables after all :(
  • I tried CD with my son but I could never get them to fit him properly b/c he is very long and thin. He almost always leaked out by the legs. As far as the ease of use, the pocket diapers were pretty easy. I was expecting them to be more complicated&n

  • I thought about doing it put never got around to trying, we got alot of diapers at our showers and figured we would use them and decide and they were just so convenient and my boys never rarely rashes and never have blowouts.

    Also

  • I've cloth diapered my daughter for a year.  I started out with 12 diapers and part time, because I wasn't sure it was for me.

I now have 35 pockets, 4 covers and a dozen prefolds.  I love it.

Do I have to deal with p

  • Also, if anyone is looking to buy cloth.  Always look for sales.  I got all of mine on sale and some I bought used from an old coworker.

And do not, I repeat do not buy diapers off of zulily.  They are usually re-labeled Alvas. &nb

  • I am definitely considering doing CD. I'm not sure which style I like best yet, but I've babysat my cousin's baby and he wears them and its so easy! I really like everything I have learned  about them so I'm totally going to give them a try. :)

  • I currently cloth diaper my nine month old daughter. It is a commitment, but it isn't as much work as it sounds. Plus, I've found that unlike with disposables, I never have diaper blow outs so I never have to deal with poop on clothing which is a definite

  • I've been CD'ing for 3 years now.  I just used a calculator on BabyCenter.  It supposedly would've cost me $2,500ish to disposable diaper my two boys for these 3 years (that's only diapering one at a time as DS1 was PT'd when DS2 was born). &

  • My complete stash (NB-PT) cost about $400 (shower gift). I use a hybrid snap in one size and love it (best bottoms). I'm kind of lazy and use disposables when we travel over night. I've had more problems with leaking and odor from the disposa

  • To OP.  If you don't want to CD then don't.

The savings really kicks in when you CD 2 children.  If you buy an expensive system you won't save as much.  I use alvas.  They are cheap but they work.  I use coconut oi

  • I CD my son, and will CD the this baby too. I wasn't sure about it at first but I work from home and the more I looked into what was in disposables I decided cloth was the way to go. I also hated thinking about all the disposables sitting around in l
  •  I didn't take the time to learn enough about it before DS. I am in the minority among my mommy friends as most of them CD. Many of them sign up on websites and at local store for freebies and $1 sales to try out new diapers.

  • DH and I have decided on a diaper service that will pick up and drop off all our diapers for us, no washing for us!  I feel the money is worth it to not have to wash them ourselves and we're having twins so we'd be spending major $$ on disposables fo

Try it, you might like it. You can do a diaper trial with Jillian's or buy a small stash and resale if you hate it. CDs have great resale value, you can recoup most of the money spent.

  • I switched to cloth with my last basically because we were poor, I'm cheap, and my daughter kept getting rashes with disposables.  I stalked newly listed lots on ebay and built a stash of 2 dozen bumgenius pockets for about $6-10 a diaper.(i was o

  • I CD'd and loved it.  My husband didn't want to at first for all the reasons everyone has listed here, but quickly realized it wasn't a big deal.  Blow outs are worse with disposables, meaning just because you're not cleaning CSs, chances are
