Baby Showers

Menu

What do you think of this menu for a baby (girl) shower I am hosting in late April at my home?  There will be approximately 25 guests.  Owl theme.

Drinks:

-Pink Champagne Punch (for 21 and up and non-pregnant guests!)

-Luscious Pink Slushy Punch (non-alcoholic)

-Coke, Diet Coke, 7-Up, Mountain Dew, Bottled Water (with personalized labels), and Iced-Tea.

Food:

-Sandwich Platter (turkey, roast beef, ham, veggie - condiments on the side)

-Fruit Salad

-Potato Salad and/or Pasta Salad

-Variety of Chips/Pretzels (in individual bags)

*There may be a few little kids at the shower so I was thinking of having "crustables" and milk (juice) boxes on hand in case they won't eat the above.

Dessert:

-Cake [2 layers, owl themed - chocolate cake with chocolate mouse filling (mom-to-be's fav), white cake with a raspberry jam filling.)

-Cheesecake bites

-Iced Sugar Cookie Favors (owl themed)

I'm debating whether or not to have a champagne/bubbly bar to go with dessert? I'd have bottles of dry champagne and then fresh peaches, raspberries and strawberries along with orange juice and a couple fruit purees.  Guests could make their own bubbly concoction.  Overkill?  Or, scrap the punch and have champagne bar instead?

Let me have your thoughts!  Anything to add or get rid of?

  • That sounds amazing- I want to go!  Don't really have an opinion on champagne bar vs. punch....both sound lovely.  I'd go with whatever you think the crowd will prefer.

My only thought on crustables for little kids...just be sure you do

  • I love the idea of a champagne bar-- and I haven't ever seen that done at a baby shower, so I think that would be memorable.

I think you are right about scrapping the champagne punch IF you decide to go with the champagne bar.

    Otherwise, y

  • Thanks so much, ladies!  I wanted honest opinions!

This is a "family shower" so I know the kids well and am pretty certain that there are no nut allergies.  But a very good reminder, indeed (I currently do not have any children; hopeful

Do you know if the mother to be falls into the no lunchmeat/microwave lunch meat crowd?  You may want to allow

  • I say stick with just punch. And I wouldn't worry about the crustables, the kids need to eat what you have provided. If the kids has eating issues then Mom should prepare for that. Do the crustables/lunchables if it won't drive you bonkers...whatever's ea

  • Sounds delicious! I'd stick with just the punch. Both the punch and the champagne bar would be too much champagne (which I'm not a fan of anyway), and the punch is just easier.
