My OB has me take it twice a day during times of constipation. I've never gotten diarrhea from it and no cramps, etc. It still takes a few doses before I even go. Milk of Magnesia gave me cramps and diarrhea!

I'd start with something more gentle like prune juice or hot water and lemon. Make sure you are eating good whole foods too!
