Food freak outs?!

Ok, Koa gets purees. He does fine with that. I've tried giving him cereal - he acts like he's gagging every time. Whatever. But what bothers me is that any time I give him something to try out that isn't pureed, he VOMITS.

A little bit of mashed banana. A small piece of nectarine he bit off. A little piece of toast. Soft-cooked carrot. Water-softened piece of cereal. Doesn't matter. It gets in his mouth, he makes a funny face, I encourage him, he smiles & moves it around in his mouth for a few seconds, then he FREAKS OUT as soon as it hits the middle of his tongue because I guess he doesn't know how to spit it out or swallow it. Gag reflex kicks in. VOMIT.

So, I'm jealous of all of you who feed your babies whatever you are eating. :-(   Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions? How long do you think this will go on for? I'm a FTM and didn't see this coming...

Re: Food freak outs?!

  • For the whole first month we tried food with Addie she was SUPER offended by anything in her mouth. Any texture or puree she would gag and not touch it any more. Even now a month into it and if she gets a piece in her mouth she gags and then kind of holds

  • Awesome! I will try puffs and mum mums! I was a little nervous since they are hard and the Gerber puffs say they are for "crawlers" and Koa isn't crawling yet, but I know that not all babies even crawl and yadda yadda...

    He does fine with S
