Need help deciding sleep method

Need help deciding sleep method.

DD is 6 months last week. Per my Pedi and needing sleep help we started doing modified Ferber method. My limit is 5 min.  We go in soothe her, she is a white noise baby so the hair dryer is her thing. We do that and she falls asleep. Sleeps for 10-20 min then wakes up. We again let her cry for 5 min. I'm outside at this point bc I can't listen to her cry. I hate it. It kills me / makes me cry with her. We started that on Wednesday of last week. She is sleeping better all night. Just the getting to sleep she sometimes shakes so much and gets herself worked up. I guess I'm just looking for something else to try. She is in our room and if it were just me we would co-sleep but DH isn't ok with that. I feel like this has made a happy baby into a sad baby. Also we have to travel for 10 days next week. So I'm worried all of this work is going to go down the drain. Thank you for any suggestions!

  • There's really not a "best" one. The most important thing is to pick one and do it consistently for as many nights as it takes to work. If you decide to keep trying CIO or switch to a different method, do it the same way every night and get your DH on

  • I agree with PP - with one little thing - I've decided if it doesn't feel right to me I don't do it.  Now - for me CIO is right for us - modified - but there are days when I can tell she is upset for some other reason and then I'm likely to not make

  • Like the others said, I wouldn't even bother sleep training until you get back from your trip.  You need to be home for a while to get a routine down.

When you say you let her cry for 5 minutes, do you then go in and pick her up?  The k
