Delaying announcement

Good morning everyone,

I was wondering if there was anyone here that waited a super long time to announce pregnancy. I haven't told anyone about it yet. I'm about 13 weeks along. I think my lack of symptoms are making it harder for me to feel like this is really happening. My midwife hasn't ordered any ultrasounds for some reason. She heard a heart beat on doppler but I don't know how I feel about its accuracy in determining viability. It was a strong, fast beat but so is mine. I don't really know if I can take that as confirmation or not.

Anyway, I was thinking of waiting until my 19 week fetal survey or when I start looking obviously pregnant (whichever comes first). It would feel weird to announce my pregnancy halfway through but I don't really see a downside to it. My parents and in-laws would be the only ones that might wish they knew sooner. It might actually be nice for them to hear the news later and be more excited cause the due date is not as far away.

    Completely a personal choice, but I will say my mom and sister were a bit offended that I waited until 8 weeks to tell them! I would think about your immediate family but everyone else I wouldn't worry about.

    I don't think there is anything wrong with waiting to annnounce at all. Its a personal choice. I have only informed my boss at work due to limitations. Aside from that we plan to wait another month or until it becomes obvious to tell people.

    Don't worry - a professional will not mistake a babies heartbeat of over 120 bpm with yours....which probably never gets that high.   

    That being said, if you definitely want to wait, then wait!  Just be prepared around the 16 wee

    Like PP's mentioned, it is a personal choice. I also had a loss, so I definitely didn't jump on my phone to family this time around. Only my Mom knows!

    I was offered the "sequential screening" but I decided not to to it. I was thinking more about risks at that time than ultrasounds. I'm going to have the quad screen later on. I really don't necessarily need an u

    Because I've had virtually no symptoms, it's easy for me to worry about the possibility of a missed miscarriage. Especially if there's *any* chance that the fetal doppler picked up my HB instead of baby. My troubles won't necessarily be over after the

    We told our family 2 days after I took the test and found out we were pregnant....we were only like 4 weeks and 5 days then. We announced it to everyone else at 12 weeks, after our 1st ultrasound and we knew the baby was okay. I totally understand your co

    I had a fetal doppler last pregnancy and my babies heart beat was always around 180.  If I were you I would not have a single doubt the pregnancy was viable.  That would be very, very odd for your heartbeat to be near that high at rest. &nbsp
