Do you love ice?

I haven't seen any posts on this board about loving ice; am I the only one?  I never drank water with ice before unless it was a hot, summer day.  Now I always put ice in my water!  If I'm drinking bottled water it has to be very cold right out of the fridge.

Last week I was at Olive Garden and ordered a glass of apple juice and had to order a glass of ice to go with it.  My sister witnessed this and commented that she was addicted to chewing on ice during her pregnancies.  I don't do that but I do have to have ice in my drinks!

  • I totally love it! Everything has to be super cold.

  • Chewing ice is a sign of anemia; I've only craved ice when my iron was low.

Just liking cold drinks is not an issue.

  • hmm maybe that's my problem...I can't get enough of water and Popsicles...but I never put ice in my drinks.

  • With the last two my drinks had to be super cold. This time they either need to be hot or room temp.

  • Not to try and make you concerned, but you should definitely bring this up to your doctor at your next visit. As another poster said, ice cravings is a sign of low iron. Which can be dangerous if it gets really low.

I didn't even know this unti

  • I can't drink much water lately if it's not ice cold, which never used to be an issue before. I've thought about bringing it up to my dr at my next appt just to be safe.

  • Extra bonus for I've cold drinks: they burn more calories bc you body has to work harder to warm it up. :]
Just my random thought if the day.
  • it could be iron like others mentioned or it could be pica, a condition that arises during pregnancy and causes cravings of non nutritional substances. ice is a very common one. my mom ate so much ice during pregnancy she would buy big bags of it and eat

  • Thanks so much for the concern!  All my vitamin and mineral levels are good; no anemia here.  This is just me really liking ice cold drinks!

  • I don't chew ice, but I love sucking on ice cubes pregnant or not.

I'm also a regular blood donor when not pregnant, so no low iron here. I really love chick FIL a's ice. Though I do feel a little like an for eating there...they have a chic

  • I had high enough iron levels to give blood the whole time I was crunching ice. It wasn't until they did another test (ferritin vs. CBC or something) that they discovered my issue. So the "I give blood!" thing... didn't work for me.
