Hey ladies,
I am need of some advice. My son just turned 3 months old and has never taken long naps whatsoever. The longest he sleeps during the day is 40 minutes, but its usually more like 20-25 minutes. At night he had been doing stretches of 6-7 hours in a row, but just recently had a little set back with that and has been waking up much more frequently. I have been reading a lot recently about sound machines and am wondering if I should try introducing one now, or if its even worth it at this point. I think he may be getting himself overly tired since he doesn't sleep much during the day which makes him get cranky at night and not sleep as long as he has been. My fear is that he will get dependent on it and it will be hard to stop using one, but if it really will help him sleep longer and be a well rested baby then I'm all for it. What are your thoughts?
Re: Sound machine...to use or not?
We've used white noise since day 1. It's been a lifesaver for our colicky baby. We use it during naps and to start him off during night sleep. Once it turns off during night sleep, we rarely restart it. He sleeps so much more so
I had the same feeling about sound machines too. I really didn't want him to get dependent on it. My son is almost 6 months now and he barely naps longer than 30-45 minutes during the day as well. But he does sleep through the night. Could your L
All 3 of mine use them. It works well to drown out other noises, so the big kids don't wake up when the baby is crying. We use Homemedics Sound machines for #1 and #2: https://www.amazon.com/HoMedics-SS-2000F-Relaxation-Machine-Nature/d
I have an old ipod we don't use, I just bought an app on there and use that. Works like a charm.
We did the same with my oldest. At this point he just needs a fan on in his room, and I don't even know that he couldn't sleep without it, I just
Yes get a sound machine. We started using one with DS when he had colic. I am not worried about weaning him off... DH always had a fan or white noise running anyway to help him sleep before we got the machine. We currently have 1 in our room, and 1 in
My 4 year old LOVES her sound machine - she can sleep without it, but she usually asks me to turn it on. We have a small house & it keeps the noise from the baby and me cleaning up the kitchen etc from bothering her at night.
So, I had to buy
Go ahead and try one. If it works, it will be a lifesaver and you will be in such a better place. If it doesn't, at least you tried.
You can totally break the habit later. We forgot to turn the sound machine on one day when DS was a little older
