putting down awake

Putting down awake is a complete fail. I've tried it all day today with zero success. He has laid in his crib for up to 40 minutes (not crying at all- happily playing) and will not fall asleep. He has napped for a grand total of 30 minutes today which was in the car during 2 different times.

He just rolls over to his back instantly and then proceeds to roll/crawl/squirm his way around his whole crib and plays with his muscial aquarium, his little stuffed animal, his soother (which he doesn't take) etc. He is usually swaddled for naps and night but I figured it's time to break that habit. I swaddled him for his first nap and still put him down awake but he just broke out of it and played with whatever he could find.

I don't know how to get him to sleep when he is just way to darn curious with everything. Even when I take everything out he is moving around everywhere!!

HELP!!!

  • DS would only fall asleep by feeding also. 2 weeks ago we started CIO but full extinction and that was for night time not naps. First night he took 40 minutes of off and on crying, second 3 minutes, third 30 seconds. Last night he never even made a pee
