Organic crib mattress recommendations?

I'm buying my daughter and son-in-law the baby furniture for their nursery, and I'd also like to get them their crib mattress, as well. I'm looking for a mattress that is organic, but that doesn't break the bank. Preferably without a plastic covering for more breath-ability, and definitely firm.

Please let me know your recommendations and I'd welcome to hear about mattresses NOT to buy, as well. Thank you!

The Baby Bargains book recommends Naturepedic's Organic Cotton Lightweight mattress for its high-end pick, but it is not inexpensive ($250ish). (We didn't do an organic mattress -- we did do organic bedding - and went with the book's rec for the mid-level

I bought a Naturepedic mattress for each of my children. My oldest is 5 so I have some experience with them. The quality has been excellent. Very firm, and all safe materials. I would recommend them to anyone. I paid about $300 per mattress.
