Factor V (hetero) Anyone?

I was diagnosed with Factor V (only one set of genes from my momma) about 5 years ago, and up until this point haven't been told to really do anything about it. Now that i'm pregnant, I'm a little more concerned. I'll admit, I probably don't know as much as I should about it...so any imput would be greatly appreciated. I told the nurse I met with at my first appt. Here comment was, "wow, that's really scary"....and what did she do about it? NOTHING. I haven't met with the actualy OB and don't until the middle of April. If she doesn't say anything about it, I might end up switching docs....suggestions?

Yes I think we are both October moms... Like I said before go see a hematologist and get retested. I am waiting for my results from my factor VII levels test. It's a different clotting disorder but still your hematologist and OB should be on the same page

I am on aspirin and Lovenox. I have a history of recurrent loss.

If I were in your situation, I would see a perinatologist if possible and a hematologist if not.

I'm in the same boat. Once you go in to an OB they should at least suggest that you take blood thinners like Lovenox (which is what I take) or Heperin (there are others but I think those are most common). What it means is that throughout pregn

Yes, you need to talk to your OB about this. However, not everyone who is hetero FVL goes on blood thinners. I did not with my first pregnancy and everything turned out just fine.

I have factor II. I have been on lovenox then heparin since my bfp. I think you would be smart to take baby aspirin until you are able to see a specialist. Better safe than sorry!
