Working Moms

(lack of) mommy guilt

After taking care of DD all by myself all weekend, I have to say, I was actually kind of glad to drop her off at daycare and head to work today.  At least now I'll get 10 minutes to myself to quietly drink my coffee. Thought I'd share with you ladies, since I know many of you understand.  :)

Re: (lack of) mommy guilt

  • TOTALLY.  We are all sick and after a weekend of taking care of sick baby and even less sleep than usual I am happy my nanny can take care of him while I drink lots of fluids at work and try to get better!

I pretty much feel this way every Monday.  Of course, on the flip side, I'm also ecstatic to pick up DS at the end of the week and spend the whole weekend with him.  One of the perks of being a WM.

  • I have posted on Facebook...."Thankful it is Monday!" I am sure many people think it is strange, but many of my WM friends totally get it.

  • I was in the same place last weekend, when DH went OOT for a bachelor party.  Work is so quiet and relaxing in comparison :)

  • Yep, I completely agree.  I've got a 2 yo and 3.75 yo, and when I started telling people I'm pregnant with my 3rd, they said, "oh, you're totally going to quit and become a stay at home mom."  Nope.  Not even a little tempted.

  • Yup, that's why I'm at work and kiddo is at DC today even though I'm feeling icky and want to be at home. Home means kiddo is home with me and I just can't deal with that today when I don't feel well.
  • I think my H is in your boat today! I was OOT this weekend so he had her all weekend long by himself for the first time ever. He was sort of happy when I got home last night and have laryngitis because he said his head was spinning from B's non-stop chatt

  • It IS nice to go to the bathroom without baby or my dog trying to get in there with me, but I still miss my son when I'm at work.  And being a teacher, I don't get to go to the bathroom whenever I want, LOL.  And my 30 minute lunch is nothing to
  • :::nods head:::: Yea, I don't feel bad at all that I'm not a SAHM. The weekends almost always remind me that it's just as much for my sanity, along with the money, that I work.

  • I think I would enjoy weekends if my husband weren't self-employed, but supporting an entrepreneur who has to work on the weekends as well as during the week makes me dread weekends. Don't get me wrong - I look forward to spending tons of quality time

  • ITA. People have always given me the typical "aren't you sad to leave DS all day" schtick.  Um, no, it doesn't make me sad. I love my job. I'd go BSC being a SAHM.

  • Thank you so much for this thread!! (I am home with sick DD today) I was just talking about this with one of my co-workers yesterday and was trying to explain how it doesn't bother me to drop DD off at daycare in the mornings.  My co-worker looked at
  • I love my kid, but I send him off with DH for a few hours every weekend, and it is amazing.
