February 2013 Moms

What is your night feeding routine?

Here's mine:

- hear baby through monitor

- mentally coax myself out of bed

- go pee

- get drink of water

- change baby's diaper

- feed on both sides

- burp her

- swaddle her back up in the crib

- go back to bed

This all takes about 25 minutes.

  • Wake up. Change DDs dipe if it's been a while since her last change or if I know she pooped. Pop a boob in her mouth, go back to sleep. Bed sharing has its benefits, haha!

  • We bedshare, so when I hear her moving around and making noise, I roll over, pull her into me, and give her the boob.  When she's done on the first side, I sit up and burp her and then I move my pillow to the other side of the bed (DH has his own

  • Lucky! I pee, change baby's diaper, go to the living room and turn on the TV, feed baby (while I have some water and a snack myself!), burp her, and since she has a bit of reflux, I swaddle her and then hold her upright for 20 -30 minutes. And sometime

  • Omg I wish it took 25 minutes to feed at night. It takes about an hour.

I nurse her then supplement with formula. After that she's upright for 15 to 30 minutes. She has a diaper change then she's swaddled and rocked and put to sleep.

  • Hear baby (who sleeps next to the bed in a rock and play), get him, lay him next to me, put boob in mouth, burp if needed, otherwise we usually both fall asleep in the act of feeding. DH frequently wakes up to baby snoozing and my boobs hanging ou

  • Hear baby through monitor, go pee and get a quick drink, change DD, reswaddle her, feed, burp and hold upright for about 5 minutes, put her back in her crib. I'd say we're usually up for about 25 minutes too.

  • He wakes me up, he is in the rnp beside me.  I change his diaper if he is wet.  If not, I lay down and feed him, we both doze off for a bit.  When I wake back up, I put him back in the rnp.
  • Hear baby who is next to me in bed, ignore, hear again, find glasses, remove baby from room before other child wakes up (since he has decided he also is sleeping in our room!), change diaper, breastfeed while watching netflix, fall asleep on couch, wake u

  • I hear the baby moving around (in PNP in our room), and hope he goes back to sleep.  He never does.  And then I pick him up and stumble into the livingroom, and turn on the tv to keep me awake. He eats for about 5 minutes, give him a break,

  • My routine takes about 20 minutes. I hear my daughter and go into her room. I feed on one side and then burp. If she is still awake, I change her diaper and then feed and burp on the other side. I then put DD back in her crib and let her settle for a minu

  • I am glad I'm not the only one who turns on Netflix to stay awake. I am currently watching Gossip Girl in the middle of the night to stay awake. I need something to keep me up during the long feeds.

  • Hear him or feel him wiggling (we bedshare).

Sit up to nurse (I figured out that when I was side-lying nursing, he wasn't staying awake long enough for a full feeding and would wake more often).

    Nurse one side, then burp.

  • I FF, so my routine is slightly different

-Hear baby stir in the RNP next to the bed. I wait a few minutes to make sure he's really awake and wants to eat, because he is a noisy sleeper. If he is I scoop him up into the bed, and leave him in his

  • I also FF.

    - Hear DD2 in the co-sleeper

    - get her up before she really starts crying and wakes up DD1 (who sleeps in the next room)

    - the first feeding after 2am I change her diaper (unless she poops, then it gets changed no matter wh

  • I am so jealous of all of you that have an under 30 minute routine!!!

DS2 feeds pretty quickly and I only do a diaper change if he's poopy2.  It's the going back to sleep part that takes FOREVER.  I still have to rock/walk with hi

  • I wish mine took only 25 minutes. I have the same routine, but after swaddling, I hold DS up for 20 minutes so that he doesn't get any acid reflux. Sometimes I even have to top him up. It takes around an hour.
