Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Pacifiers

Our daughter is almost 6 months old and still isn't very interested in pacifiers. Do babies show interest in them later in life or if she's still not interested at this age, do you think she'll ever be? Just curious what others' experiences have been. :)

  • I think it depends on the baby. DD liked them in the first few weeks, but only takes it once in awhile for 10 mins at a time now at 3.5 months, most of the time she looks at me weird and spits it out when I offer it.

    I'd say you dodged a bullet! If she doesn't like them, you don't have to worry about taking them away later.

  • I agree that it would be very nice if she never likes them - I had a younger sister who still wanted to use hers into Kindergarten - my parents had a really hard time with her. The rest of us weaned off them at about 2-3 years old.

  • I think she probably won't show any interest. DS likes his binkies; he liked them as a newborn, lost interest at about 3 months, then started liking them again about 2 months ago.
