Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Ferberizing

At what age can I begin to do this?  I have tried everything and spend so much money reading books that are just a bunch of crappy no good solutions.  I can't even get LO to take a nap let alone stay asleep for one.  I don't want to rely on CIO but I have no other options.  She wont take a nap no matter how tired she is.  Can someone please explain to me how this works?

Re: Ferberizing

  • I think she is too young for CIO.  What happens when you try to get your LO to sleep?

  • I believe feber recommends between 3-5 months.

  • ah I had to google it.  It seems its not really crying it out.  But training the baby that they will get checked on, patted on the back but not picked up or fed.

  • I did Ferber with my DD when she was 4.5 months.  Best parenting decision I've ever made.  It's all about timing when you go in to check on them and soothe them, but not picking them up.  I suggest reading the chapter on it before you try i

  • I plan to ferberize her little a$$ around 4.5 months.  She sleeps good at night but after spending an hour getting her to sleep.  Forget putting her down drowsy..that's a load of crap.  And naps she's got that 45 minute stupid intruder. &nb
  • You really should read Ferber's book, "Solve your child's sleep problems" before you begin sleep training.  I got mine from the library.

  • We did Ferber with DD at 6.5 months and never regretted it for a second. I know you can start it earlier than that, and I have no problem with CIO but I didn't want to do her any psychological damage by doing it before she was ready. Anyway- I ordered F

  • For the love of god read a book.
  • We did this at 5 1/2 months, but she was 6 weeks early so we waited a while. Really, we just waited until she skipped her middle-of-the-night feeding on her own a couple times - that's when we felt she was ready.
