6 weeks PP & Frumpy

I feel totally BLAH about myself at 6 weeks PP. I'm now a SAHM so I don't have to get into office clothes anymore and I find myself wearing pajama or yoga pants and big t-shirts and slippers every day. I never have time to blow dry my hair or put makeup on anymore either. I lost 30 lbs but am still another 20 away from my pre-pregnancy weight and I just feel crappy about myself. My husband has been awesome and encouraging, tells me he loves me with no makeup and loves me being home with our son. I know it's my own coming to terms with my body post baby and how much my boobs and stomach have changed. I've been trying to get out and walk with my son but the weather hasn't allowed it much- it's actually snowing a few inches today! I need to do something to get out of this funk I'm in but I don't know what. Any advice?

  • I suggest one day a week you get dressed, put on makeup and do your hair. Just for you. Wearing your maternity pants will make you feel thin because they'll be so loose on you. And after over a month with no makeup you'll feel like a bombshell with a litt

  • I agree with PP. I rarely style my hair or put on makeup anymore, but I do make myself wear half decent clothes most days [for me that means jeans instead of sweatpants and sometimes a nicer shirt vs a T shirt, haha]. I will be going back to work part tim

  • It is soooo hard! I just bought myself a transition shirt at lululemon bc i will still be able ti wear it after i lose weight and feel somewhat acceptable. I am still bleeding which also adds to the gross feeling.

     It gets better...for me 6

  • Um, I didn't have to find my maternity clothes for my 2nd pregnancy because they were still in my closet and I was still wearing a few of the shirts.  Just make a decision to not do that!  I agree with the previous ladies, m

I feel pretty similar. I actually went out and bought 2 pairs of "transition" jeans and wear those now daily. Jea

  • Get up and "ready" almost every day.  I have an older DD that has preschool daily, so not looking like a slob in carpool with all the other moms is a HUGE motivator!  Get out...hit Target if nothing else.  Meet DH for lunch once a week. &nb
  • Oh, and as for having time to get ready, if you can do it before DH goes to work that is great!  If not, that morning nap is another good time.  If you need to, put the baby in a bouncer in the bathroom with you.  Showers and hair dryers

  • I can totally relate, my thing is I don't fit comfortably in my pre pregnancy clothes yet so whenever I "get ready" I just feel crappy and plump. My husband strongly disagrees, but my hormones don't help and I just feel unattractive. I am going to make

  • My daily shower is nonnegotiable because I just feel gross without it because I feel like I always smell like blood and dried milk. Lovely right? I take a shower during my daughter's morning nap and try to get myself totally ready before she wakes up. I w
  • I agree with PP - buy some transition clothes to wear so you don't have to live in PJs and maternity clothes.  You'll feel a lot better about yourself.

Also, make sure you get a shower early in the morning every day.  I have to do this

  • I'm with you too....I really really want to get back to exercising regularly but it's been really hard to figure it out.  I hit this point with DS1 and am frustrated that I'm here again with DS2.

DS2 is really high maintenance and need

  • I hear ya! But just the other day I borrowed some time from who knows where and put makeup on and it did wonders for how I felt about myself. I trout, hey, what's ya know? I still kinda look like me! I suggest getting dolled up and going out.
