S/o BF time between feedings at night

Currently DS is usually giving us a 56 hour stretch every night, but a lot if times by the five hour mark I am waking up from the engorgement. A few nights I had to get up while DS was still sleeping to go pump to relieve it, I was so uncomfortable and couldn't go back to sleep. How is everyone else dealing with the overnight engorgement? Did it take your boobs a long time to get the message especially if your LO is sleeping 8 or more hours?

  • Yeah, I'm JUST now starting to not get too engorged at night. I'm still definitely pretty full, but no longer to the point if painful.
Eta: I did have to pump for a while at night, but I slowly stopped those until I no longer needed to do it.

  • I didn't pump and stopped getting engorged after a couple weeks. I think if you keep pumping you will just keep getting engorged. I usually feed her off one side for her one MOTN wake up and then in the morning I pump the other side before she wakes up. I
