Cut off?

So I'm just beside myself with confusion and questions with this whole supplementing thing! Benjamin breastfed before bed, then took another 5 ounces of pumped milk. That's a lot! He got really frustrated at the breast and was latching on and off and fussing. We went at it for over 30 minutes. Then he took all that from the bottle. Do I just let him eat however much?! I made an appt with lactation consultant and have a ton of questions. I just hope my milk increases and we can move on.

  • I don't have any useful advice. I just wanted to say that I'm glad you are seeing an LC. Hopefully that will answer some of your questions.

  • I'm so sorry you're going through this confusion of breastfeeding + supplementing... I've been riding this train for almost three months now (and I think we're nearing being done, but that's another story), and it's still confusing as heck.

  • WSS. When you bottle feed, unfortunately you can stretch out LO's stomach without realizing it. Be cautious of that.

    Also, if LO is getting fussy at the breast, it's probably because you're not letting down fast enough for their wishes. Watch
