Bad Breastfeeding Foods?

I was discussing breastfeeding the other night with another new mom, and she suggested a few foods to avoid while breastfeeding. Are you to avoid whole milk and nuts?  Anything else to avoid?

  • Unless baby is showing signs of an intolerance, you do not have to avoid foods. They do recommend not eating a lot of peanuts, but that is all.

  • I ate a pretty regular diet but did have some issues.  With dd1 I couldn't eat beans, cabbage, or too many gassy vegetables.  They made her gassy and very uncomfortable.  After a couple months she was fine.  Also fast food made her

  • I've read that some babies dont like spicy foods and wont BF for as long if you've had something spicy.. I'll find this out pretty quickly as we put cayenne in most everything we eat.. Other than that I'm hoping that PPs are right and that I can just eat

  • I didn't avoid anything, but over time I noticed certain things I are seemed to make DS gassy, so I tried to eat less of them.

  • 2 of my kids had no problems with anything I ate, one I had to give up dairy as it was causing a lot of fussiness and gassiness and he had eczema, and it got better once the dairy was out of my diet. He still has a mild milk allergy.
    Due with #5 April 22, 2015. It's a girl!!!!! 

     Yes it was planned, yes we know what causes that, no we are not on public assistance, and yes we will be getting cable after this. ;)
