FTM...how much do you put on a registry?

So my DH and I haven't registered yet, we were planning on doing it in the next few weeks. I recently was looking at the registries of a couple of friends who are due around the same time as me. Their registries look so small to me! They hardly have any bigger items, and have a lot of bottles, blankets, bedding, etc. For example, they don't have any breast pumps, cribs, mattresses, baby carriers, etc. on theirs. I was thinking about putting these things on ours.

Now I'm confused, because I feel like we need a million things. Should we still register for everything? Or is there such a thing as "too much" on your registry? We just figured whatever we don't get, we would buy after our showers. I obviously don't expect to receive everything we register for.

  • I didn't register for nursery furniture (crib, mattress, dresser) or my breast pump, but I think you could.  The registry is for you to keep track of what you need and want and a suggestion to people who may buy you gifts.  It doesn't hurt to

  • Put what you want and need.  Period.  People will buy what they want to buy regardless of how much o rhow little you have on there.

So.... if you want it or need it, put it on!  It's only a wish list.  It doesn't requir

  • A registry is a place to put anything/everything you plan to purchase for your baby.  The only items I side-eye are those obviously for a parent or much older child (electronics, TV, camera, bike, etc.).  A good rule of thumb is to have at le

  • I tried to stick to what I consider the essentials on my registry, I figure I can always add other "nice-to-have" items closer to my shower date if there's not a lot of selection left on it. I tend to be a bit more on the minimalist side

  • In my opinion, there is such a thing as "too much" on a registry. To be honest, I do think it is overkill when I see parents have multiple registries with a boatload of really expensive stuff, or just a massive volume of items. Put on what you like, but
  • We did not put furniture on our registry or major ticket items like our stroller.  I did put items like a pack n' play, activity mats, bouncer, swing, etc and then a lot of smaller stuff like blankets, bottles, etc.

    I think most people leave

  • I personally hate when people put such a small list together for their registry.  Add everything you want so that you give people a nice range of options.  Plus it's a list for you to keep track of the remaining things you still need.

  • A lot of the things I registered for were smaller items (blanket, extra bedding, bottles etc.).  My showers will be when I'm 35 and 36 weeks along.  We got antsy and wanted to have the crib, dresser, car seat, and other larger items purchased by
