Baby Names

Your "WTF was I thinking" favorite names from the past...

For Mobile users: Your "WTF was I thinking" favorite names from the past...

I've always liked names.  I loved to name dolls, future children, etc and I still do.  When you were younger (grade school, high school, college) and thought about baby names, were there any that you look back and think "WTF was I thinking?"

If you have any, spill...

In college, while dating my DH, my favorite name was Breelee, said Bree-leigh, which I made up.  So glad I never ever decided

  • I guess this isn't that bad, but when I was under 10 or 12 my first daughter was going to be named Sharon.  I was so obsessed with that name for no apparent reason that I can recall.

  • I loved the name Mercedes Valentine. It's still beautiful...if you're French. In the US naming a child that would be an atrocity.

Hero (heh-ro rather than hee-ro) remains a guilty pleasure as a girl's name, but again, standard English wreck

  • As a pre-teen, Destiny or Crystal. Definitely NMS now.

Late teen/early 20s I loved Lily. I still love it, but 10 years later Lily is far too popular for me.
