Breastfeeding

Itching

Hi ladies!

I'm having a terrible time with itching on my breasts around my nipple.  It is typically just the right breast, although sometimes they both itch.  Typically it is worse at night than during the day.  I have seen both my ob and the boys' pediatrician, they have determined it is not yeast/thrush as my nursling has no symptoms and it isn't a consistent itch, it comes and goes throughout the days/weeks.  My LC and LLL group also have no ideas.

Anyone have any thoughts- or more importantly, suggestions for relief? Thanks!

Re: Itching

  • I have itching all the time too! Not on the nipple just the skin around it. For me it's just dry skin, I just use lotion sometimes, I never had this prob before breast feeding.

  • I get itchy when C is comfort nursing after eating, just slightly suckling. But once he unlatches it feels much better.
  • Are you using nipple cream? It sounds like dry skin to me, in the winter mine get itchy if they get dried out.
