Naps

Lately my DD, who will be 2 in May has been refusing her nap. She never took two naps, she has always taken one and we rock her to get her to nap, but the past few times she has fought her nap and has not had one. She goes to sleep fine at night and everything else seems normal. I didnt think kids gave up their nap before 2. Could she be giving up her nap already or should we keep trying to get her to nap?

Re: Naps

  • From what I've read 2 is early to give up naps but not impossible.  Does she maybe need more time awake or more activity? Perhaps a longer wind down. My DD is only 18 months but I find she needs more time to settle these days for naps and night ti

  • Loading the player...
  • Is she going down earlier or sleeping in later? Maybe she's collecting her sleep there instead of needing a separate nap.  That would mean a LONG afternoon and evening in this house with no nap.
  • I've also heard that it's possible to start to drop the nap around 2, but not the norm, whatever that is....Smile

  • Even if she won't sleep, try putting her in her room for a bit of quiet time. Some restful playing is better than nothing.
