Baby Trend/Flex Loc Carseats

So DH installed our Flex Loc car seat bases yesterday, and what is odd is that they only secure at the back of the base (that faces the rear of the car) while the opposite side of the base is completely unsecured.  You can completely lift the whole front of the base up.  I can't imagine that is correct, is it??

Does anyone else have this system, and was that the way it is supposed to be installed?

  • Our Graco was loose like that too and they said it was normal. Drove. Me. Nuts. I bought a different brand this time but I haven't installed it yet so I don't know how it fits.

  • It's normal... Once you put the baby in the seat and the seat in it won't move as much

That is how our Britax fastens in as well. We were told it was correct.

  • We have a baby trend and yes but its secure. One thing is have him get in the car and put his knee in the middle pushing down. Then tighten it more. It will tighten a lot more... even now with LO big girl car seat I do this if we are reputting it in th

  • We JUST installed ours. I feel the same way, but the back is tight. I guess it's right, but I'll be taking it to the fire station this week to check!

  • It's correct. If you were in an accident, you don't want it completely stiff. You want more shock absorbed through the seat and not on the harness that's holding LO in. If that makes sense. It's hard to explain I guess.

  • My britax this time is the same way as was my graco last time.  It's normal to absorb impact and can cocoon the seat, same thing as with a rear facing convertible.  Kneel into the base to make sure it is as tight as possible.  You don't wan

  • I think that's how all infant bases fit. Once the actual seat is in, it doesn't lift up as much.
