37 week induction or wait for a c-section?

Repost from Multiples board.

I posted yesterday about the size of my LO's 7 lbs each. I know from experience how much these can be off.  DD was estimated at 9 lbs and was 8 lbs 5 oz at 37 weeks. Anyways, I had a really bad experience with an abdominal surgery a few years back (I could have died) so I am extremely apprehensive about surgery.  My baby B is breech and my OB is the only one in her practice who will perform a breech extraction. My OB is on vacation March 28-April 7th.  So here are my options she consulted with my MFM and they said they would induce me March 27th (37 weeks) try vaginal birth, I can be scheduled for a C-section at 38 weeks or I can wait until my doctor gets back 39 weeks and try vaginal. Or obviously I schedule nothing and let nature take its course which again would be a c-section.  I feel selfish doing it at 37 weeks but I would really like the chance to at least try for a vaginal birth.  I am currently 3.5 cm dilated and 50% effaced.  Thanks is advance for any help.

  • Hmm that is hard. I was induced with my twins but they were 38 weeks and both head down. I was so thankful not to have the recovery of a c section, but the birth got pretty scary there for a minute and in those moments I wished very much I had opted for a

  • I am a FTM with no experience whatsoever, but if it were me, I think I would go with the induction at 37 weeks. Getting twins to 37 weeks is amazing and I don't think you will keep them in much longer given their size. Also your numbers seem favorable for

  • Having my own share of scary medical procedures in the past, I can completely understand your hesitation toward c-section--and if you really want to try for a vaginal birth, then I think induction is the way to go.  This is your pregnancy.  You'

Thanks for all the advice ladies. I am going to go with the induction. So looks like I will be meeting these LO's in just a few days.
