Hemorrhoids. Should I be concerned?

The past couple days I've had a painful hemorrhoid and it started bleeding yesterday and it was bleeding quite a lot. I drank a lot of water as suggested by my brotherinlaw's sister who has had 3 kids and also suffered from bad hemorrhoids in her pregnancies. The bleeding slowed down a bit and I stopped freaking out as bad as I was. This is my first pregnancy so I'm not sure if I should see the doctor about it or not. I took a stool softener and keep the area clean as well as using tucks a few times a day, but is there anything else I should do?

  • I have them too, but they only act up once in awhile (maybe 5-7 times total the entire pregnancy).  I would not be too worried unless the bleeding was super heavy and did not stop. I would mention it to you OB at your next appointment.  My OB ju

  • You can try a sitz bath; they are very highly recommended for hemorrhoids. Eat high fiber foods. You dont want to eat processed foods if you can avoid it. Lots of water. Tylenol if you are in pain and your doc approves it.

  • Thanks for the advice. Never had to deal with hemorrhoids before so I have been unsure of what is normal and how to go about it all.
