Cloth Diapering

New Mommy and have a few questions!

Hello there! I am a brand new mommy as of 13 days ago to a beautiful baby boy! My hubby and I decided cloth diapering is the best way to go but I'm pretty new to all of this. During the daytime we typically use ClothEez prefolds, and overnight we have a few different brands of Fitteds with covers. Baby Connor has a rash on his bottom though that seems to just keep getting worse...we have Angel Baby Bottom Balm we have been using as well as Bee All Natural baby powder. I dont know if perhaps I am not changing him often enough? We change him ALL THE TIME, espcially during the day, and use the bottom balm almost every time. Using prefolds how often should I be changing him? Does anyone have any other advice on how to get rid of his poor rash? Thanks for your help!

Re: New Mommy and have a few questions!

  • Is it a yeast rash? Could be Thrush. My DD had that at 3 weeks old. Maybe google image it? Idk how to describe it.
If its a yeast rash you will need to treat all his diapers and possibly put sposies on him till it clears up.

  • My daughter had a bad raw bum around three weeks from poop. Its so acidic that it burned and we never had her sit in it. If thats it do as much naked time and oatmeal baths with baking soda. If its small bumps it could be yeast. Go get some lotrimin and u

  • Our LO had open sores at that age that bled in her folds. Didn't seem to have a cause, just delicate skin. We used cloth wipes wet with water, cloth diaper safe cream (yum bum butter) and a few times a day used a fitted without a cover to give her bum air

  • It may simply be the extra wetness against LO's skin. Natural fibres used in fitteds and prefolds don't wick moisture away from baby's bottom. Plus, NB's poop all.the.time. Try some fleece liners to keep LO a little drier. I've read that you can make them
