SICK...help!

Hi ladies...

DS is really sick...Thursday he came down with a 100.1 fever so I took him to the doctor since every time he runs a fever he seems to have an ear infection. We got there and yep...double ear infection. But our pedi said we caught it early and prescribed us antibiotics and sent us home.

He took his first dose Thursday night...two doses Friday and two doses today. The weird thing is he's actually getting worse every day instead of better. His fever has now been at 103 all day today. He is refusing to eat for the second day in a row. Around noon today he started refusing to drink which completely terrifies me. We have to FORCE him to drink. My husband and I just had to give him almost a whole bottle with a medicine dropper bc he just will not drink. And he was even trying to refuse the medicine dropper.

He's just got a ton of congestion and a 103 fever...I'm taking him back to the pedi in the morning.

Just wondering does this sound like strep to any of you? I'm just thinking since he is refusing to eat or drink or basically swallow anything it makes me think that his throat really hurts. He's never refused to drink before.

Any advice on how to get fluids in him until we get to the pedi when they open tomorrow at 10 would be great. I am just so worried about him...I called the ER and they are freaking packed and it would be like a 4 hour wait:(

What about a pedialyte popsicle? It would help his throat and keep him hydrated. Is he still producing tears? Is th

  • Definitely sounds like he needs a different med (for whatever reason).  But don't worry too much about his lack of desire for liquids as long as he IS getting them, even by force.  The issue is totally in the literal drinking and not the wanting

  • Could be hand foot and mouth....when my son was 14 months he had those symptoms....it's viral
  • I would call back and tell them about what's going on, they will let you know if he should come back in for a recheck.med change. It's also possible that while being treated for one thing he picked up another virus.
