Hip pain

I was out for a walk tonight in our hilly neighborhood and had pretty serious hip pain along the outside of my right hip. Anyone have tips on how to improve the situation? I know it's common in pregnancy, but it's interfering with my exercise and I'd like to stay as active as I can. HG pretty much house bound me during my first two pregnancies, so I never had to deal with exercise along with hip discomfort.

My next OB appt is two weeks away and since it's not bad enough to warrant a call to the office, I was curious to hear if other active moms had any suggestions.

Re: Hip pain

  • Does the pain shoot down your leg? Could be sciatic nerve pain if so.

Other options could be your iliotibial band IT band, sacroiliac joint, or bursitis in your hip joint.

I've had the latter two when nonpg as overuse injuries

  • I had that too due to scoliosis. I would get little spurts of not being able to walk because my hips were so screwed up. I went to the chiropractor and now I feel amazing! No pain anywhere! I feel like I did before I was pregnant, except with a giant bump
  • I'm just a bit over 14 weeks now and if you're like me, it could be Pelvic Girdle Pain. I would suggest looking up some info as i can't make the links clicky.
But I would get the same thing...I walk or run errands for about an hour and end up in so muc

  • And don't let anyone tell you it's normal if you feel it isn't. Slight ache's and pains are normal yes....but debilitating pain is not. I had other moms tell me it was all normal, not quite understanding how much pain I was in when I got to thes
