furniture corner guard turned teether

My 9mo. old uses ANYTHING as a teether, and she has recently discovered those cushy corner guards for the coffee table... at first we didnt mind b/c they seemed to be holding up well and it gave her something non destructive (or so we thought) to chew on.... well... now she's softened them up so much that she can get tiny little bits off of them and they're the perfect height for her, so she constantly goes for them.

Anyone else have this issue? Is it worth taking away the cushy guards that are supposed to protect her from the sharp edges in order to keep her from teething on them?

Our LO is doing this too. We plan on replacing them over and over once they become too soft. The corners of our coffee table are so sharp, and he's bounced off the guards already, it worth the expense.
