Pregnant after a Loss

girls due in the next 4-5 weeks

Has your doctor offered to induce you before the end of the year if you want for tax purposes?

I had my weekly appt this morning and he mentioned that he could induce me at 39 weeks (which falls on the 30th) for that reason. I guess I just wasn't expecting that 'offer'....

  • LOL!  As a CPA, I find that highly entertaining.

  • I dont "qualify" but I have known several girls that do this.... and the nurse that delivered my niece said the last week of the year is one of the busiest ever!
  • I had to go to L&D yesterday, and the nurses said that the end of the year is so busy for that reason. I really don't know why a Dr would induce for that reason...... It just seems so common to induce now.
  • I am getting induced that week, but not for that reason (although DH and I are stoked about it!)  Our hospital is pretty small, so I'm hoping that means it won't be too busy.  That would kind of stink.
  • I will probably be induced by 12/31 only because that's a week and a half after my due date, and that's what my OB told me is the latest she'd let me go.   Personally I think it's a bit silly to do it just for the taxes, but that's just me.   :)

  • I'm kind of shocked at your doctor. Induction is not something to be done lightly!  Its hard on you AND the baby.

That said, if I am forced to have a c-section, we will probably do it before the end of the year.
