Baby Showers

Hosting a Gender Reveal/Sprinkle for friends

I'm hosting a shower for my friends who just found out they are having baby 2! We're combining a gender reveal and sprinkle, So I am wondering if I should ask people to bring a gift or not for baby 2? We won't know the gender and they already have a boy. If you have any suggestions on how to do so I'd appreciate the ideas. Thanks!

  • I wouldn't throw yourself a sprinkle. Honestly, when I have been invited to a baby shower or sprinkle for a second child I do not go. I think it is very tacky. Gender revealokay..but people wont be as excited to find out the sex as much as you are. Maybe

seriously though, I'd be super pissed if someone asked me to bring a gift to a "sprinkle" for a second child..... and it's especially bad if the parents to be are doing it. This is actually consi

  • Ok, I thought I had put this in the previous post but it appears I didn't. I think it got cut off from the title. I am hosting this for friends. It's not my party. I'm just the host.
  • I would make the invitations up for a sprinkle then just put on there that the sex will be revealed. That way they will know its more like a shower then a party. Or just invite for the sprinkle and let them surprise the guests with announcing the sex. <b

  • I like the idea of having a sprinkle and surprising people with the reveal. Maybe you can have a.diaper raffle for a gift basket so they can at least get diapers. When people see that they may bring another gift but there won't be the pressure. Even if yo
  • No I wouldn't ask that. If they bring a gift cool...if not then it's fine.

  • A sprinkle implies gifts. So if I received an invitation for a sprinkle I would bring a very small gift.

No one cares that much about the "gender reveal" (it's sex, by the way, not gender).

But it's a fine way to combine the 2. I per

  • I think its awesome you are throwing them a sprinkle/reveal party.  Maybe I'm just overly generous but I love gift giving especially when it comes to baby goods.  Don't put any registry info on the invite so that guests don't feel the pressur

Don't ask people to bring a gift.  Let them decide that on their own. Most people probably will anyway.
  • This board is always so vicious. Maybe her friends and family are into this kinda stuff. There are lots of people who are happy to go to gatherings, spend some time with friends/fam, and bring a gift.  I don't understand why everyone is always so neg

  • All of the other posts? I feel as though you are being far to generalized. For example, scroll down the page a little bit and look at the post I made a few days ago. No one had anything snarky or rude to say. Just awesome opinions and advice. Which is the
