I hate growth spurts

The kid has been attached to my breasts on and off for 2 to 3 hours at a time (we are in a feed-burp-rock for ten minutes-repeat pattern), with 45 mins to 1 hour of sleep/quiet alertness in between, since midnight last night.  My nips hurt so much and with his christening this weekend and family and friends coming in to town, this is really not the best time.  I'm already exhausted, hungry (having not been able to really eat with him attached to me), and parched, and I know this could go on for at least another day or two.  Ugh.

Husband took him for twenty minutes so I could get a break...thank goodness.  Just needed to vent.

Re: I hate growth spurts

  • Could your husband bring you something easy to eat and drink while you nurse? Also have you thought of maybe pumping so husband can feed him a bit to give you a break? This may be hard though if you havent gave a bottle before or dont want to.  </

  • I understand. We are also going through a growth spurt and it is stressful. My son is feeding every hour on the hour.  It started Monday for us and I hope that it is going to stop very soon.
  • I totally feel for you. This was us just a couple days ago. It really was only bad for us for one night, so I'm hoping the same for you! But it did take a couple days to catch up on some sleep. Hope it gets better!

  • Yep. I think my nips hate me. Also the evening fussiness was out.of.control tonight. I've never heard her scream like that. And we are back to 2 hour intervals of sleep at night. Hoping this passes soon! I did start re-watching Grey's Anatomy though, sinc
