upcycling old tshirts and sweatshirts

I really don't want to throw old clothes away to forever sit in a landfill, but I also don't need them to be forever sitting in my closet. These are clothes that can't be donated because of rips, stains, or what have you.

I searched Pinterest for some ways to upcycle my old tshirts and sweatshirts, but does anyone have any "real life" experience with doing so? I'd love to hear suggestions!

  • I have about 100 pins on the subject, I have yet to make one. In real life, all I have done with them was to cut them up and use them as cleaning rags. DS's old shirts I converted into bibs. That's it! lol

  • If you want to make a foot stool old clothing and towels are great filler!

  • I've used old clothing as rags too, so I don't have to use paper towels as much. Or I've made dog toys (just stuff into an old sock and tie it).

  • I used pinking shears to cut old t shirts into baby wipes. There are patterns online for turning a t shirt into a market bag. Looks easy but I haven't tried it.
