Finding a babysitter out of state?

I'm traveling with 3 kids for a wedding and need to find a babysitter. I've tried asking the hotel we're staying at with no luck. We're driving, and then continuing to another destination before coming home, so our regular sitter isn't available to come along. How do you find someone out of state? Do I really just have to play roulette with Internet sites? TIA

  • Is it a kid-free wedding? Is that why you need a babysitter? Maybe you could ask about splitting childcare with someone local who's attending the wedding. Crash their babysitter.

Also, is there any chance there is a daycare center that would allow you to dro

  • I'd talk to the cousin and see if she can find someone she can personally vouch for.

  • I would try to find a well reviewed home daycare that also does the occasional overnight. Or what the previous poster said, call a daycare and see if any employees babysit on the side.
  • We used sittercity.com to find a sitter out of state. We were getting together wtih friends so we wanted two sitters to watch 7 kids under 6. I posted an "ad" and got a number of responses. I emailed with each to find out more about them, received and cal
