I'm just wondering where other babies are at in clothing size. My son is 8 months old tomorrow and is wearing 9 month clothes. He was six weeks early and I find I've transitioned to 3-6 and 6-9 month clothes roughly on schedule.
Also, for those of you with bigger babies or STM can you talk to me about the jump from 12 to 18 month clothes? I like to always buy a size or two ahead when I see sales/clearance etc but I've been told by a few people now that their LOs were in 12 month clothes for quite a bit longer that the infant sizes.
I'd like to start buying summer clothes but I live in WA so "summer" doesn't show up until July and usually runs through September. LO will be 1 on June 29th. Should I be buying his shorts in 18 months or are they going to fall off? He's 17 or 18 lbs right now and I'm guessing 27 inches? At his appt last month he was 16 lbs and 26 inches and I KNOW he's grown! When I look at 18month clothes they look so big to me but I remember his nine month stuff looked completely enormous just a few months ago and now it fits fine!
It's wonderful to see how fast and healthy he's growing after being a preemie but part of me can't believe how soon my baby will be a toddler!
Re: Clothing Sizes
DD is 7 months old as of yesterday and I have her in 18 month stuff... even some 24 month items. She is really, really tall so the pants are usually a little loose but plenty long. She also has a long torso so onesies have to be really long and tops do to.
It's funny that I used to think 18m stuff looked so big but now it's already looking really small...
LO is 7months exactly and is wearing 9month sleepers but everything else 3-6 months. She is just now almost 14lb and is not close to outgrowing 3-6 stuff.
With DS, he wore, and still wears, the sizes exactly as shown on the tags. He is very average in size.
I guess it just really depends.
DD is 8 months in 8 days and 6-9mo clothes are getting small, but 9+ mo clothes are pretty baggy still. Carter's brand is always big on her for quite some time and walmart cheapies tend to run smaller. It's all about the brand.
I recently hit up a sale and some of the 12 month clothes said 18-25 lbs and DD is 17 lbs so we picked up some "summer" clothes. We're in OR so I know what you mean about summer not really showing up until July.
