Pajamas for the hospital - what kind

For after the birth and next day, should I take shirt/pants set, or nightgowns?   I generally only wear lounge pants and tops, but I was thinking that a nightgown might be more convenient?   I dont want to stay in hospital gowns the whole time, especially when visitors come, but I dont want to ruin any of my own clothes at the same time.

  • If you're going to take something, take the nightgown so the nurses can check you easier.

With DD I just stayed in the hospital gown.  Although I wasn't a fan (who is?) of them, I just didn't want o chance ruining my own things.

  • Nightgowns, it is.  That is what I was thinking, too, that they would be easier.   And they would be better in case of a c-section, which is something I wouldnt have thought of.   Thanks!

  • I never ruined any of my clothes. Probably the hospital gown while I was giving birth but that's it. Gowns might be easier for the nurses but I really don't care to make it easier on them. I want to be comfortable and I'm comfortable with yoga pants and a

  • I've always taken 2 pairs of pj pants (c-section so I stay a little longer). One pair usually gets something on them. I wear them under the gown they give me when no one is around and when people come I put on a nursing bra and shirt or tank. I also bring

  • I've always worn the gown for the whole stay and I plan to again. If you wear nightgowns, will you be pulling it up around your neck to BF? Or take if off completely? I felt like all I did in the hosp was BF, so I was glad for the hosp gown with snaps <im

  • Night gown if anything, till your ready to be dressed. Our birthing centre actaully reccomends that you just use their linens, so yours don't accidentally get picked up.

  • I had a c section and just wore the gown the whole time. It was easier for the nurses to check my incision, plus I had an On Q pump which I don't think would have been compatible with pants. I did take a robe for walking the halls. I plan to do the same t

  • The nurse who taught our L&D class told us not to bother bringing anything that "most" women just wear their hospital gowns the entire time. I will probably wear the gown but bring my own robe as well.

I'm planning on bringing two nightgowns and a robe in case one of them gets dirty. I just got gowns that had easy access for breastfeeding.
