I needed to visit an RE to get pregnant with B. The diagnosis was unexplained infertility. It took us about 2 years of trying before he was conceived.
11 months ago, after 3 months of trying, I got pregnant naturally, but miscarried. Since then, though, I haven't been able to conceive again so I talked with my OB and she agreed that it was time to go back to RE.
And I just got a letter from my insurance denying the referral because "it way.ysn't medically necessary." My work switched carriers last year and our new carrier is such a pain the azz and just overall sucky and expensive.
I sent a note to my OB and we'll appeal, it's just such a pain, and it just delays things.
Grrr
Re: stupid insurance
Infertilty is not always covered- unless you live in about 10 states that have some kind of mandated coverage- then there are some loopholes that some companies can be able to not offer it. your work could of changed its coverage for infertilty.<
I know it's not always covered, but then wouldn't it have been denied because it's not covered service, instead of giving the reason that it's not medically necessary?
My previous insurance didn't cover it all. It gave me a discounted rate
