Dr. Called - It looks like it's over :( 6 weeks, 6mm Sac and low numbers

in 1st Trimester
Here is my story:

I am 39 years old and TTC for years with my Ex-husband. We went through tons of fertility testing and procedures. Never had a pregnancy. We ended up divorced.
I remarried this past New Years Eve 2012 and now 2 months later I'm pregnant...total surprise!! I never even thought my body would ever see a pregnant day!

I had my HCG tested on
3/10 - 462
3/12 744
3/14 1610
3/18 (96 hours later) 2709
3/20 - 2976 (48 hours later)

So I had a couple of HCG's not double, but they have been consistently rising UNTIL THIS LAST ONE......This is when she called me and said this is not a viable pregnancy.  When we did the US on Wednesday (6 Weeks) they only saw a 6mm sac and it was empty.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

She is checking my level today one last time because I asked me to.
 
She has suggested a shot to induce a miscarriage or a D&C next week.
I want another US even if my levels don't increase much.  Can I demand one last US?
 
Help me...I am so distraught.

    ((((Hugs))))  You can ask for another u/s.  I didn't feel okay moving to a D&C without being absolutely sure, so I asked for one.  My doctor kindly obliged.  By that point, we'd known the baby was dead for over a week and I stil

    I am sorry you are going through this.  I would wait a week or two and do another ultrasound.  Are your periods regular?  Do you know when you ovulated?  Maybe you aren't exactly 6 weeks and it's too early to see anything?  I w

    I went in on Monday for my first ultrasound thinking I was 7w 5d and the tech couldn't find a heart beat and said I was only measuring 6w 4d.  I am going back on Wednesday to have another ultrasound to see if there is growth and hoping for a heart

    First of all, I'm so very sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you during this difficult time.

    If it would help you emotionally you can ask them to perform a final ultrasound. You may have to pay out of pocket, but I can't see the harm in
