Tummy Time help...

I'm sure there have probably been other posts about tummy time, but I need help.  DD HATES tummy time.  I lay her on her stomach and she either buries her face flat down screaming or turns to the side and sucks on her hand.  I've tried rattling toys, calling her name, buying her a tummy time mat and propping her up on it and still she just will not go for it.  When I carry her around she will push off a little and look around supporting her own head.  Anyone have any suggestions? Should I be concerned about her acting like this? TIA!

  • Irelyn only recently started being ok with tummy time. I can get like 10 minutes out of her.
    Some things you can try:
If you have a boppy or other BF pillow prop her up on that. I did this for a while.
Roll a towel up to go under her chest. Or i

  • Thanks! I've been trying to do it when she's in a good mood a couple of times a day.  She's never liked it so hopefully she will get better.  I have the tummy time mat with the little pillow but she pushes with her legs and gets all off centered

  • Most babies hate tummy time. It's a lot of work! A friend gave me the Baby Einstein take along tunes toy and she really likes it and lifts her head up for about 10 minutes to look at it.

  • Alexis just started to tolerate it. The visiting nurse told me yesterday that at two to three months she should be able to lift her head and be able to h hold it for a few seconds so it sounds like you are all set!

  • Do ever try on your chest? I don't do a lot of tummy time but he will lay on our chest with me on SO in bed or on the couch, we lean him against us and he holds himself up. The pedi said he had good head control so it seems to be working. I also saw a pin

  • I got a tip from the PT we had with DS1 and it's helped with DS2. When he's on his tummy, I tuck his arms underneath his chest, so he's resting on his forearms. I gently hold his arms there so it gives him a prop.

  • Kendall has just started to tolerate it when there is a mirror up. We put it in front of her so she has to lift up to see herself. She's mesmerized. I do change her position or pick her up when she gets whiny and try again shortly after. I've noticed when

  • DD hates it most of the time too.  My DD does the same things you were describing.  I sometimes have luck with a mirror.  I don't push it too much because she will hold her head up on her own while we carry her.  She also loves us t
