Car Seat Warning (really sad story)

I just read this sad story about a baby left in a car seat (not in the car) to continue sleeping.  Warning: It's really sad, so you may not want to read it, but it was surprising to me that leaving a baby to sleep in a car seat once you've brought him inside the house is so dangerous.

    Oh, that is sad.  I leave mine in the carseat sometimes if he's asleep, but I'm in the room and check on him often and leave him buckled.  Still... maybe I won't do that anymore.  I read something the other day about a kid strangling on

    I will let LO sleep in the carseat but I keep her within feet of me and watch her sleep. I never unbuckle her either- that would wake her up! I always get nervous about her airway getting compressed. Same when she falls asleep in her stroller when we're o

    So the airway compression they mention in the article I'd never heard of before.  How do you check that when you're driving alone?  Is it just a matter of not buckling them in too tight or not leaving them in it for too long? Car seats make me n

    This is so sad. I feel for the child family. No one should have to ever k ow the pain of losing a child.

    Ok, just read the article - granted the article did say that it's not safe to leave a baby in a car seat even if they ARE buckled, but I think that may have just been a CYA kind of thing.  The poor baby in question was left in a car seat UNBUCKLED

    I have left my kids sleeping in their car seat a ton of time. I wouldn't be able to do lots of things if not. I leave them buckled in and they are safe.

    You should NEVER use a car seat halfass....either they are in it and buckled in PROPERLY or
