VBAC

New here!

Hi everyone.  I am due Oct 6th, and planning to VBAC. I have already signed the paper at my OB's office.

I am a little nervous that something will go wrong and I won't be able to though. When I had DD ( she is now 7), I developed pre-e, had to be induced, and then she was breech.

At my first appt, I saw the PA who said that unless there are complications, I should be able to VBAC successfully. I think she mentioned the pre-e though. I was just wondering if others have been told that developing pre-e will automatically mean a c-section?

  • I don't think it has to mean an automatic c/s, either do other complications just give a blanket mandate for rcs. However, that particular hospital...maybe that's what really happens.  There's compelling anecdotal evidence for a high protein diet helping to keep bp normal, and it seems pre-e is less likely to recur in a second pregnancy with the same father.  Going as close to term as you can is ideal though, so that baby will be ready on his own to be born without need for induction.

  • My OB and many others I have read will not induce for VBAC - so if I were to develop Pre-E I would have to have a RCS. That may be what she meant?

  • Thanks ladies!

Sorry for the late reply, I completely forgot to check back on my post. I should have clicked the watch button.

I have my NT scan next week, and then I will see my actual doc. I plan to ask him about it then.
