Natural Birth

Could use some support

Hello ladies. I have been a lurker on this board but am desperately in need of some encouraging words. I have been planning on a natural birth, particularly a pain med free birth. I am not a candidate for an epidural due to previous spine surgeries and I do not feel narcotic pain mess or cervical blocks are safe choices for me and my baby. Well now I am days away from induction due to post date pregnancy of almost 42 weeks and am overwhelmed and nervous and now feel unsure of myself and how my birthing process is going to play out. I am not trying to get out of or refuse the induction becaue I do believe in my doctors advice that at this point we should go forward with it. I don't need any natural induction suggestions because trust me I have tried them ALL but if anyone has any words of encouragement or successful birth stories of induction/ pain med free I would be so greatful for a little emotional boost today. TIA.

  • You can do it.  There are several women on this board who have had successful med free births with an induction.  It can be done.  Try to stay positive and remember the L&D is a natural part of life.  A womens body was made to g

  • I don't have personal experience with this, but I know of at least 2 women who have managed to get through an induction w/o pain meds.  It can be done.  Hopefully, your body is close to being ready anyway and they just have to get you over the t
  • You can do it! I've not heard any good things about taking narcotics during delivery anyway. I've heard it just makes most moms feel woozy, nauseated and out of control so keep that in mind.

  • I, too, have met women who have had pain med-free births with pit, it cam be done! But b/c you are almost at 42 weeks, I would imagine your body is ready and maybe some of the other induction techniques used at the hospital (cervadyl, etc.) could put y

  • You can definitely do it!!! I was induced at 42 weeks for being overdue and I was able to have a pain med free vaginal delivery. I was even able to do the water birth that I wanted.

I gave birth at a very baby friendly hospital with a lo
  • I've never posted on this board before but came here looking for some encouragement and saw your post.  I'm a FTM so I can't speak from experience, but I wanted to share what someone told me.  I'm sure this is different depending on every hos
