Baby Showers

Registry Question

If someone is throwing you a shower, do you HAVE to have a registry? I mean I have one, but it's for private use as a checklist. It's also almost empty.  I know I never shop from a registry. But do you prefer to shop from it? TIA.

Re: Registry Question

  • I always shop from a registry. That way I know they are getting something they wanted.

  • It depends. If it is your first child, then I would say definitely provide registry info. I always shop from the registry. I hate trying to guess what the MTB wants/needs and I think that it will cut down on doubles of things. If it is a second/third/etc.
  • First child. I just don't know what to put on a registry. We are not telling anyone the sex, so anything gender specific is out. I figured most people would prefer to shop for one, I'm just at a loss at what to put on there.

  • I always shop from the registry, unless it's last minute and all the good stuff is gone, but then I just purchase a gift card from wherever the mom-to-be/bride is registered.

  • Thank you everyone! I love getting opinions. I think I'm going to make a registry of toys, books, etc. As far as everything we need, we just about have everything. But I would love LO to have a lot of books, and toys never hurt either. I would love anythi

  • I think you don't have to. Personally I think it's tacky to include registry info on the invite. I didnt but ppl usually ask when they rsvp. I usually shop off them though. I think for baby showers ppl often ignore and just buy cute clothes ;
  • I love shopping from a registry because I know how much time and effort goes into it. I do however usually add a small favorite item of mine that may not be on there.

    Edit: We did not reveal the sex either until the shower which kept a lot
